Viewing E-Labs Results

Results for lab orders submitted using the E-Labs platform are pulled into to AWARDS four times a day:  5AM, 12PM, 5PM, and 12AM.  When a result is received for a lab order that was submitted using the E-Labs platform, a message will be sent within the AWARDS Messages module to the ordering physician.  That physician will also receive an email message to his/her work email address (as recorded under Staff Information, Notifications, or Password & Security), indicating that a new result is available in AWARDS.  The AWARDS message will contain a link to download the document returned by the lab, while the email will only provide a notification that a result is available in AWARDS, without providing access to those results or any protected information.

In addition to directly viewing results from the corresponding internal notification in the AWARDS Messages module (which is limited to the ordering physician), there are three other locations from which to access and view E-Labs results, as detailed below.  These viewing points are available to anyone with access to the relevant program and AWARDS feature.

From the Diagnostic Tests Index

Within the Medical module's Diagnostic Tests feature, open the index for the individual whose results are to be viewed.  Click the radio button to the left of the test in question, and then do one of the following:

  To view the AWARDS version of the test results record - Click the View icon.   This option is available to all users and uses data synced into the database from the results record.

  To view the document returned by the lab (for users with the E-Labs permission) - Click the Show E-Lab Result icon. The results document is opened in a new window.

From the Laboratory Orders Index

Within the Medical module's Laboratory Orders feature, open the index for the individual whose results are to be viewed.  Click the radio button to the left of the order in question, and do one of the following:

  To view the laboratory order and its results - Click the View icon to display the order, and then click Diagnostic Results from the left-hand menu bar to see a table of results data for that order.  To view the E-Labs data in AWARDS, click the radio button to the left of the results record and then click the View icon again.

  To view lab results including the document returned by the lab (for users with the E-Labs permission) - Click the View icon to display the order, and then click Diagnostic Results from the left-hand menu bar to see a table of results data for that order.  Next click the radio button to the left of the results record, and then click the Show E-Lab Result icon.

  To view the printable order requisition generated when the order was submitted through the E-Labs platform (for users with the E-Labs permission) - Click the Show E-Lab Order icon.

Using the Diagnostic Tests ReportBuilder

Within the Medical module's Diagnostic Tests feature (or the Reports module), use the Diagnostic Tests ReportBuilder to build a customized report of test data.  Keep in mind that reports generated in this way may include results for both manually entered test results, as well as for tests submitted and received electronically via the E-Labs platform.  To limit results to only those received for E-Labs orders, check off the E-Labs option in the "Diagnostic Tests" portion of the data variable selection page, and filter on records that have a "yes" value there.
