Laboratory Orders Fields / Options

Previous Topic  Next Topic

Below is an alphabetical list of the fields and options located on the Laboratory Orders - Data Entry page.  To jump directly to the information for a specific field or option, press <Ctrl+F> to access your browser's search field and enter the name of the field/option in question.

NOTE: A gear icon  next to a field or option in this list indicates that it is optional (and therefore not automatically available in all AWARDS databases).  For more information on the ways in which this data entry page can be configured, see the Laboratory Orders portion of the Medical Module - Implementation Requests FormTo request some or all of the configuration options detailed there, complete the form and submit it to [email protected].

IMPORTANT! When working with an existing laboratory order that was submitted using the E-Labs platform, data editing is limited; specifically, each field/option value can only be edited once after the lab order has been submitted and results received.  After a field/option's value has been recorded or changed once, it becomes read-only.

Diagnostic Results

The expandable Diagnostic Results table within each laboratory order record enables you to view associated test results from the Medical module's Diagnostic Tests feature.

NOTE: Test results are associated with a laboratory order using the Related Lab Order drop-down option on the Diagnostic Tests - Data Entry page.  In the case of laboratory orders submitted electronically via the E-Labs platform, that connection does not need to be made manually; it will happen automatically when the results are received in AWARDS.

To expand/collapse this portion of the page, click the show/hide arrow icon.  When expanded, complete one or more of the following tasks as needed:

View or print the results record - To do so, Click the view icon from the action bar above the table.  A read-only version of the record is displayed and can be printed as needed using your browser's print option.  Click the To Index icon in the action bar to return to the diagnostic results table when viewing is complete.

Access patient education information for the test - To do so, click the infobutton icon from the action bar above the table.  The National Institute of Health's MedlinePlus database is opened in a second window, containing patient education materials for the selected test.  Close the information window when viewing is complete.

Make changes to the test record - To do so, click the edit icon from the action bar above the table.  The data entry page is displayed.  Make changes to the information on this page as needed, and then click SaveFor more information on working with diagnostic test records, click here

Delete the results record - To do so, click the delete icon from the action bar above the table.  A confirmation message is displayed.  Click OK to proceed with the deletion.  The laboratory order record is deleted and the updated index is displayed.

NOTE: The delete option is not available for laboratory orders submitted through the E-Labs platform.

View or print the related E-Lab order record - To do so, click the Show E-Lab Order icon from the action bar above the table.  A printable order requisition generated in the E-Labs platform at the time the order was submitted is now displayed in a secondary window.  (Check your browser's pop-up blocker settings if this window is not displayed.)  If necessary, print the record using your browser's print option.  Close the secondary window when viewing is complete.

NOTE: This option is only available if your agency has subscribed to the optional E-Labs feature, you have been granted permission for it by Foothold Technology, AND the corresponding laboratory order was submitted through the E-Labs platform.

IMPORTANT! In order to use label printing functionality that is a key component of the E-Labs platform, you must use Internet Explorer 11 as your browser, and you must have a Meadco download installed.  Please confirm that your computer is configured correctly before clicking the Show New E-Lab Order icon.
