The following frequently asked questions regarding the Merge Duplicate Sources feature can be a useful reference when you have your own questions about the functionality.

How can I tell which of the two agencies with the same name should be retained and which should be removed?

To make an informed decision, you may need to view the details of a specific agency by opening up its record via a referral. This can be done through a training database, Intake/Admission> > > Or Services> Service Referrals.
On the Retain and Remove lists, the agencies have a code number to help you not select the same agency in the retain and remove fields. However, these #'s don't display when you go to look at the details of an agency. You may have to temporarily change the name of an agency until the merge is done. For example, if you want to merge XYZ Agency with XYZ Agency and you've gone and in determined that the address on one is more complete than the address on the other, perhaps make the name of the one that is lesser be "XYZ Agency remove". Then when you get back to your Retain and Remove screen, they will no longer both look like XYZ Agency but one will have a slightly different name.

How do I know which referral source to keep when merging duplicates?

The ID numbers in the referral source drop down (located at the end of the Source) are there to help you keep track which source is which in the Remove Duplicate list picker. While the duplicate Referral Source names are removed, the contacts for these as well as the retained referral source will be kept and available in the merged record.
